The Salado Lady Eagles put together a strong showing at the annual Waller Tournament held January 1–3, finishing second in the Black bracket after three days of play.
Salado opened the tournament Thursday with a big 8–0 win over Sam Rayburn. Goals were scored by Cora Thomas, Kenley Vasek, Lucy Johnson, and Kinleigh Fulton, while Catalina Campos and Brinlee Broussard each added two goals. The win moved the Lady Eagles into the winners bracket.
On Friday, Salado shut out Cypress Lakes 3–0. Lucy Johnson scored once, and Izzy Blancaflor found the net twice to send the Lady Eagles to the championship game.
In the title match, Salado faced Burleson and came up just short, falling 1–0 in a close game. The Lady Eagles wrapped up the tournament as runners-up, showing strong offense and solid defense throughout the weekend.
