In a commanding display of grit and teamwork, the Salado Eagles volleyball team defeated the Gateway Lady Gators 3-0 in a decisive district matchup on Tuesday night. With this victory, the Eagles improved their overall record to 26-6 and maintained an unblemished 3-0 mark in District 24-4A play.
Kael Wilcox was a standout performer, leading the Eagles with 16 kills that consistently put pressure on the Lady Gators’ defense. Haley Brown contributed significantly with 9 kills of her own, while Payton Ortega added 6, showcasing the team’s offensive depth.
Defensively, libero Shelby Hollywood was a force on the court, racking up 12 digs and ensuring that the Eagles stayed one step ahead of their opponents. Her exceptional play helped maintain the momentum that carried Salado throughout the match. Freshman setter Charli Niu orchestrated the Eagles' offense beautifully, delivering an impressive 32 assists that highlighted her playmaking abilities.
The Eagles' JVs would also have a great night winning 2-0 in both matches.
Salado hits the road on Tuesday in Marble Falls with games at 5pm/5pm/6pm.
